Understood, I only gave the rm02.net examples because of talk, on the
Uribl-discuss list, of listing particular hosts and adding options to SA
to allow such hostnames to be looked up.

Also understood and agreed. I'm not suggesting that you list
subdomain.domain.com, just that you list both domain.com and
*.domain.com. Doing so would totally eliminate the need for any
determination of registrar boundaries in SA or other applications, while
being fully backwards compatible with applications which choose to
determine registrar boundaries.

Therefore the handling of private registries, new(ly added) two-level or
three-level registries, or even the rm02.net situation discussed on the
Uribl-discuss list, could be handled by the particular URI blacklist
providers/maintainers without the need for co-ordination between the
affected list, SA and other applications.

Admittedly there is a downside though, DNS caching becomes less
effective. This might turn out to be worse than any benefits mentioned
above.

Anyway, just a thought on one way to deal with the minor registrar
boundary issues.
