Nameserver caching of (many_names_here).googlepages.com versus domain.com may be
rather different.

The difference between 5000 and 10000 is 2x.
 
One problem is that it costs nothing to abuse subdomains so the list size can be
infinite: however many subdomain sites the bots can create.  That number is
probably larger than the number of domains that can be practically registered.

I would respectfully suggest that the issue has not been sufficiently carefully
examined.
