It goes back to 2004, when code was adapted to amavisd-new 2.2, which was about the same time as the SA 3.0 release. But I still don't see any clues as to why it was put in. Oh well. One of these days we'll try to catch back up with a more recent amavisd-new, but it appears to work by removing the line.
