Yes, this is closer to the thinking behind my suggestion. I wasn't thinking
so much of tracking hackers as knowing who's coming up with the good ideas,
helping out with documentation or whatever. These are things that we would
want to take into account when considering someone for committership, for
example.

Also, knowing who the author is provides a starting point for any discussion
about an addition or change to the wiki. One of my personal peeves about
some wikis is how an addition or change spawns a "discussion" embedded in
the wiki page itself. I'd much rather be able to send a message to the
author, and cc the user or dev list, as appropriate. The discussion then
happens on the mailing lists, and any follow-up decisions can be reflected
in changes to the wiki pages.
