It's not a question of needing to release 1.2.1 ASAP (although it's been
longer than we'd hoped). It's simply a question of whether or not we should
wait for updated dependencies or not. (Note that this is a general question,
and not specific to this upcoming release.) My view is that there is no real
need to wait at this time, but I'd like to hear what the other Struts
committers think.

I understand and appreciate Robert's commitment to heading off these versioning problems at the pass, but these also sound like considerable changes that would be inappropriate to simply slide in right before a release.

I think we should get 1.2.1 out the door, since we seem to suddenly be close again, and we can roll a 1.2.2 when those dependencies are revised. We absolutely don't want to get into another Struts 1.1 situation where there's always one more thing which delays the next release. Plus, I don't think it makes sense to rush the releases of those commons components, and delaying 1.2.1 until those come out might effectively rush that process.

I wouldn't want to railroad a buggy release through, but I don't think that's the case here.
