http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=35396 ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2005-06-21 05:33 ------- I have no problem with the "fill the gap" part of the proposed enhancement. I think that's perfectly fine. An alternative, of course, would be to enhance the tags to support those HTML 4.01 attributes that are currently missing. Where I take issue is allowing the Struts tage to generate non-conforming HTML according to the HTML 4.01 spec. As I have mentioned, I will veto such a change. The proposed enhancement can avoid a veto simply by being limited to allowing only valid HTML 4.01 attributes to be generated. The analogy with an action returning null is not the right one. The equivalent of the user deciding to generate the response entirely manually would be deciding to not use the tag libraries at all. The distinction is important. In both of those cases, Struts is doing nothing to help. In the case in which the tag libraries allow the generation of invalid HTML, then Struts is helping to generate that invalid HTML. That is why I will veto (vote or not). -- Configure bugmail: http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
