I think this is a great case where we need a tech spec before merging the code. The spec should cover the problem, use cases, proposed solution, and implementation details. The document ted put together is a good start for the general approach, but this spec would be more focused on exactly how the codebehind plugin would change and why. We all have different ideas how the codebehind plugin will work and why, and a tech spec will help focus this discussion, and serve as useful documentation later.
