I've prepared a pull request for this on github, for review before integration:

It's not building because of Rat plugin - don't know how to exlude *classes.jar
. I would like to propose we make the packaging part of the normal core/console
builds.
It's not much code overhead and should not be that intrusive. A deb directory
and a jdeb configuration. What do you think?
