Fair enough.

It's not like we're going to run out of numbers :-)

We're working in the context of the Apache Ethic that we vote on the
exact binaries that we "ship". The version number gets embedded in a
number of places, so whether we call it 5.0.9rc2 or 5.0.10, it's still
necessary to generate a new set of binaries.

Instead of using up lots of version numbers, would it be practical/
worthwhile in future to tag or branch as release candidates? For
instance, tag or branch as 5.0.9RC1, 5.0.9RC2, etc. If a Release
Candidate is accepted then you branch off it as 5.0.9 to lock it in.

The bug is ugly but there's a reasonable work around. Once Geoff adds
the bug, I'll fix it for 5.0.10.

Geoff Callendar may have found another show stopper bug, so we'll see
if this follows through.

I've created and uploaded a release of Tapestry 5.0.9, ready to
be voted upon.

Release 5.0.9 fixes TAPESTRY-2074, a blocker bug discovered in
5.0.8.

The files are uploaded to:

http://people.apache.org/~hlship/tapestry-releases/

and a Maven repository:

http://people.apache.org/~hlship/tapestry-ibiblio-rsynch-repository/

Please examine these files to determine if a new preview release,
5.0.9, is ready.

I've also created a 5.0.9 tag in Subversion:

http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/tapestry/tapestry5/tags/releases/5.0.9/

On a successful vote, I'll move the files from these directories
to
the proper distribution directories.

Vote will run for three days; on success I'll move the voted
artifacts
into place and send out appropriate notifications.

Fortunately I've never used Windows so even 5.0.8 was good to me :)
