Andrew de Andrade commented on THRIFT-2940:
-------------------------------------------
Randy, submodules is one approach. Git subtrees is another approach.
Basically, keep all the projects in their own folders and publish to changes
automatically to another repo. apache/thrift still is the master where all
changes can be merged in, but at least there will be a published nodejs github
repo people can fork, modify and install from it. If they want to send changes
upstream, they do so as patches only I think (no more Pull Requests).
{code}
git remote remove origin
git filter-branch --subdirectory-filter lib/nodejs -f -- --all
git clean -fd
# then push this up to the nodejs only repo.
{code}
That said, I do think git submodules are the appropriate solution in this case.
Anything that can be done to make it easier for each language community to
maintain their own clients is a win in my book.
