right - perhaps that's another reason why the mapping file would be helpful
here.  i think i understand what's needed at this point.  i'm going to
prepare a separate thread that explains to everyone how this will work (in
case we've lost people attention on this thread).  i'll develop the mapping
file and send it to you once it is all settled.  at that point we can
decide when the right time is to execute the migration.
