We are working on a web-based annotation editor [1] as part of the CLARIN-D project. In the frontend, we adapt use the visualization provided by Brat [2]. In the backend, we use our own Java-based server implementation. Currently we store CAS data on the file system in the binary CAS format. Some metadata is stored in an SQL database. It is planned to open source the project. I expect this to happen rather sooner than later. > Anyway over at OpenNLP we built a Corpus Server > which basically stores CASes in a Derby database to make them available > to annotators and our training tooling. > > You can have a look its here: > https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/opennlp/sandbox/ We had a look at the server but chose to start out with our own storage backed for the project because we didn't know yet what out requirements would be. I was also a bit worried that you might tie it tightly to OSGi environments. Do you plan to keep the OpenNLP corpus server in a state where it can be used without an OSGi environment?
