We had a look at the server but chose to start out with our own storage backed
for the project because we didn't know yet what out requirements would be. I
was also a bit worried that you might tie it tightly to OSGi environments. Do
you plan to keep the OpenNLP corpus server in a state where it can be used
without an OSGi environment?

Well, if OSGi is your only concern that could easily be fixed. In the end it depends on your use case if you are interest to join the effort to develop it further we can solve these issues
easily.

It would be really interesting to attach an annotation tool like brat to it.
