It looks like there are two alternative approaches:
One would use special variables, so the generated sites have the proper links
(including the version).
The other would use rewrite rules - no variables are needed (I think), but the
htaccess file would need updating to translate between a generic link and the
"latest" version.
Both approaches would require editing and publishing updates to the indirection
pointer (either in htaccess or in project.xml). Does this sound right?
