Some related feature requests in uimaFIT:
* UIMA-3724 - Adding selectCoveredSingle()
* UIMA-4212 - select and index intersecting annotations
* UIMA-3234 - Differentiate no annotation and multiple annotation case in
selectSingle
In particular UIMA-4212 has not been part of the discussion so far.
