Using Tidy to clean up and validate the code *before* you commit the revision is a good idea. I do it regularly with the CD pages, which I believe you'll find validate correctly each time. I also use Quanta as my editor, and it will run Tidy in report mode (not modify, that needs to be done from the command line). the beauty of that is that the error messages in the bottom pane can be double-clicked to take you straight to the line which has the problem.
