Miika and Leo...re Maarten's reply (I've snipped a LOT out) and would like to add my comments as well (I'm co-lead for the website project but admittedly I have not been very active at participating lately due to other pressing matters).

As indicated in this message, the current "design" we are working on/toward is located at:

https://www.sc40.sfo.collab.net/

Not that I want to dissuade you from coming up with and formulating your own ideas--certainly we welcome them and I'll take a look at what you've got when I get some time--but it would be beneficial for you to look at the mail archives on all this recently--i.e. the discussion that pertains to the website revision.

What you and others need to understand it that changing a site like OOo, or I dare say, ANY site with so many contributors and users, is NOT something that can be done quickly or easily, and not something that we do say once a month.

The current proposal on the table is practically finalized. It needs some minor editing changes at this point and will likely go into "produciton" sometime toward the end of the month when OOo 2.0 is announced.

Like it or not, this was the design that was decided upon. Please do take a look at it, sign up to the sc40 discussion list if you like and give some input to Maarten who is basically coordinating actual changes, along with Christian Lohmaier.

Thanks.

Hi Miika,

<--snipped-->

I would suggest collaborating more on what we've got, and continue from there. But who am I saying this? There are people on the list heavily disagreeing with my opinion on how the homepage should work. And this is obvious, a zillion people is a zillion opinions. Well currently I am the 'leading' the design of the current sc40 draft. That I am doing this is due to a discussion at the project leads list (which is not public, not even for viewing :( ). My proposal was a competing design with that of Matthew and a drawed site proposal of Jacqueline.
