Thanks to both Maarten and Ger for your efforts...my <humble> opinion...I like the idea of the chick as well but Maarten does kind of have a point vis a vis the bird and "maturity". My "ideal" would be something like a chick that looks like s/he is about to take flight or something. OK, I'll look around as well sometime today, but we need to publish thing rather soon (probably within the next week) so we can't spend a LOT of discussion on this. The improtant aspect is that we need something that visibly looks nice, interesting, and hopefully enticing. SO maybe the larger more visible bird image would fit this goal better.

I've just uploaded a version with a younger seagull chick, an image that Ger send me privately (for which he also had to ask permission). The transparency is not all good at the left side... I'll remove it in a future version.

I LOVE this one!

Thanks

Frankly, I doubt our audience will get so philosohpical! <G>
Maybe the competitors?
We need something appropriate and friendly.
I agree. In general I think photographs turn out to work very well in that area of the website (this is what I suggested also on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailinglist).
for the latest version I just attached to the issue. Furthermore, this seagull is younger than eggsopen_v0.5(withgull).gif. I think the latest update is the best so far (besides for the transparency).

??? confused...what version are you referencing here?
To the withgull/chick/ version. There is a blue pixel cloud hanging around left of the gullchick. I doubt if that will be noticed by anyone when it's presented on the blueish background of the highlight box on the homepage, but anyhow, it can at least reduce some in filesize, as it is of no aesthetic or informational use.

Maarten
