this one seems to have a clear goal, (it started heading left :-)
Whereas the other one looks a little bit uncertain "Hmm, what should I
do next" - but it will be hard to extract and just be yet another image
that makes the decision harder...

I really love the look of this young gull!
It is younger that the eggsopen_v0.5(withgull).gif (that really looks
old *compared* to the chick-picktures - compared to the grown-up seagull
it is young - or a different species :-)
Agree. I'd a abandon this one too.
About the maturity issue: Concept wise the youngest seagull is best.
Marketing wise it could be used against us when we use an unstable,
young seagull chick.
Frankly, I doubt our audience will get so philosohpical! <G>
We need something appropriate and friendly.
Well - seagull-eggs as "logo-image" for an Office-Suite? Is that
appropriate? :-)

is too mature..(although still a juvenile gull)..

Just did a Google-Image search for "Seemöwe" (german for seagull) - and
guess what: Otto (the edu-Mascot) is the second hit :-)

Probably "larus marinus" will give more hits, but as murb stated: At
this state it is worthless to look for other images, better finish one
of the existing proposals..
I would not mind making the latest version, based on "larus marinus" as
/the/ image ready to funk up the hp during the 2.0final release!

Alright. Let's vote then shall we? Minor edits are always possible. No
more images from now on! (else we get in this never ending loop of
what-ifs :D )
