While I'm glad that you're trying to work on it, I'm kind of
disappointed that you rush with it, without defining the requirements
first.

Some bad points:
You have to manually select the version of OOo.
You have to manually select a mirror.

Both things are preselected automatically by the script that the
german-lang team uses.

Not using the german script but...

doing major (capitalized) surgery on the old javascript, I take this as
an indication that you're no longer interested in integration the script
the german team uses.

That you assemble the filename-part of the URL shows as well that you
did not pay attention to what was written in the small conversation
between murb and me.

All that would be no problem, but I would have liked to see some
explanation on why you do so nevertheless.

See also murbs comment. It is not even clear whether we would like to
offer other versions than the current one.

Havin "stable" as part of the main-Server URL also indicates that you're
not planning to offer direct download of localized versions.

That is fine as well - your mockup - but again I'd prefer you taking
part in the discussion about the actual requirements of the download
page first.

Sorry to say, but IMHO your efforts were kind of a waste of time, since
the german scrip already does what your new script does (and I think it
does a better job at it (automatic proposal of defaults)) and since it
is not clear whether the changes you did are needed at all.

That't one of the reasons why german-lang team has the mirror array with
associates a list of "platforms" with each mirror (e.g. to describe what
version a mirror offers).

Yes. So you're aware of inconsistencies of the naming and still you're
assembling the URL.

Ok. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
