Hi,
I've tried to create a new mockup for openoffice.org. What do you
think about this? As always, images can be changed, everything can be
changed :-)

It's quite good but the images themselves seem to compete for eye
attention. I'd suggest a stronger central image (for download),
disappear the hapless man with the briefcase.
What about tabs? Do others have views?
Maarten, Kay? Cloph? Matthias?
I always saw, Molcan's designs as collages, which is really important
for the development of our styles... I am still not sure, though,
whether it works as an interface. Tabs, imho, do not have to be on this
page... but they may be much appreciated by users who use the website
often. If this is www.openoffice.org, everyone should be at the right
spot quickly. First downloaders are important, but we should cater for
other users as well. 'Tabs' help us with this, and are relatively
unobtrusive, i.e. we can set the place first users have to look at apart
from the rest (header/footer) quite effectively by using special
colours, interface elements etc.
I like the bit brownish/red colours as well. Really nice, and not too
much (which you might say of Ubuntu's style). Still an old complaint
remains. There is no real download button.
g.,
Maarten
