(I assume you have created the design 'Splash page'; in general to all,
it is wise to add your Wiki-name (~~~) just below the tiles of the page,
makes it easier to refer to things (or give it original names ;) ))
One point I will keep repeating: which pages are we looking at, and do
you think the pages you would like to link to match what you would
expect from this page?
I don't see so much difference between what and why actually, both are
telling me probably how I can use OOo
Icons would probably make it easier to scan the page in a blink
Is there any reason why you exactly used this order? Maybe it makes
sense left-right: beginner->advanced; top-down: novice->advanced? A
logical structure helps in understanding the page even quicker.

Hi everyone,
Having had a look at many of the discussions about OOo's homepage, the
idea of a minimalistic 'splash page' has started to grow on me. I have
made a quick mockup using similar colors to a previous proposal. You
can see both of these on the wiki page
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Website#Design_proposals)
Language auto-detection is assumed, but a drop-down box could
facilitate language selection (though there is a 'Get OOo in your
language' section at the bottom). Options assumed to be more important
are closer to the top, while the quick download option is in the
centre, along with a link to other ways of getting OOo (i.e. CD,
torrent, because as someone mentioned, these are often ignored. On
that page, we could even list computer magazines that regularly offer
OOo on their included CD/DVDs. As with my last proposal, the emphasis
is on the layout format rather than colors and design, though again, I
would suggest keeping graphics to an absolute minimum.
Additionally, I would like to mention http://designmeltdown.com/, a
gallery type site with many great (HTML) designs that might serve as
some inspiration.
Thanks,
Ivan.
