Hi Maarten, Thanks for the tip, I've now added my name to the relevant entries.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "which pages are we looking at, and do you think the pages you would like to link to match what you would expect from this page?", but I'll try to answer this as I understand it - I had a look at some other proposals, such as OOo Multi Lang (http://fission1.free-web-hosting.biz/OOo_Web/Multi-Lang/OOo_Multi-Lang.html), the Interior pages on the wiki page, and Graham's proposal (http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/mwiki/images/a/a3/Home_page_draft_11-27.jpg), which are light in terms of content and text - simple, clutter-free but potentially effective. My intention was to get that kind of simplicity but at the same time, provide enough options so the page doesn't become an annoyance for people who visit frequently (maybe logged in users could be redirected automatically?). The ordering of the options is in no particular order, I just put them in the order I imagined users would come to the site - the options most likely to be clicked at the top and ones less likely to be clicked further down, with the download button in the middle. The content is only a mere suggestion. Icons would make it easier, though the headings themselves could be made more attention-grabbing, i.e. making them bolder, using a different font, coloring, etc. My only concern is that an icon for each of the six options would saturate the page with too much color, causing only cluttering. The examples I mentioned above use stronger, darker and richer colors and personally, that would put me off, particularly with dark blues taking up a sizable portion of the page - it comes across as being cold.
