Hi,
__Positioner text____________________ e.g. your next productivity/office upgrade, etc. aside the logo at the top left. Actually a marketing issue, but since they are not responding to Ivan's question to agree on the positioner, I'd vote for: "Your next productivity upgrade" Note that this is a web specific positioner, with the aim also to provide a (tiny) bit of explanation what the product is. If you are looking for inspiration, some have tried to tackle this in December at marketing: http://marketing.openoffice.org/servlets/BrowseList?listName=dev&from=2007-12-12&to=2007-12-24&count=91&by=date&first=1&windowSize=1000 __Navigation tabs____________________ Question: which ones from the current website should stay, and should any new ones be added? Currently we have Home Download Support Participate Projects My pages About Home News Wiki Extend Projects About I propose: (given that we have login and a very prominent call for participation already on the mainpage, and extend will be more important, and news is removed from the main page): * Home (besides the logo, which also should link to home) * News * Support * Wiki * Extend * Projects * About I have some doubts about the wiki, on the one hand it is a really good source of information, on the other hand, what should new users think of it. That argument can be atacked however with, why would such user click on 'Wiki' anyhow? Nice thing about having a wiki link is that if we are going to unify the wiki lay out with the rest of the website, we can have 'wiki' in a selected state, and not some arbitrary link. download.openoffice.org is almost useless to anyone, and specific pages should be created for those projects wanting to offer something different than the program. __Action statements____________ Mainly sub-text for the action statements hasn't been decided upon Please revise the most current proposal at (and edit where appropriate): http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Website/Content __Subpages' content______________ The subpages have hardly been discussed, please have a look at: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Website/Content btw, I have contacted the project leads of the documentation and support projects on the proposed help page. Frank Peters (co-lead doc) replied being happy with the current approach, agreeing that the current support page was indeed too overwhelming. I guess he will sooner or later fine tune the help/support text though. He had some issues with our action statements approach in general, but I already have replied that is the what we have agreed upon (+the some of the arguments). In case he wanted to reopen the discussion I invited him to the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list. __Footer_________________________ What text should go on the footer: For now I suggest, keep it as proposed: http://www.patentpending.co.nz/openoffice/index.html (but yes, do try to make it always at the bottom part of the screen.
