Hi Maarten, All,

thanks for all the work to give the home page a fresh design and make it more attractive and helpful to our visitors.

__Navigation tabs____________________
Question: which ones from the current website should stay, and should any
new ones be added?

Currently we have
Home Download Support Participate Projects My pages About

Home News Wiki Extend Projects About

I propose: (given that we have login and a very prominent call for
participation already on the mainpage, and extend will be more important,
and news is removed from the main page):

* Home (besides the logo, which also should link to home)
* News
* Support
* Wiki
* Extend
* Projects
* About

I find it confusing if the Navigation Tabs at the home page are different from those on other pages (using CEE tabs). So I would stick with the current ones (or reopen the discussion about the tabs for all pages again).

I have some doubts about the wiki, on the one hand it is a really good
source of information, on the other hand, what should new users think of
it. That argument can be atacked however with, why would such user click
on 'Wiki' anyhow? Nice thing about having a wiki link is that if we are
going to unify the wiki lay out with the rest of the website, we can have
'wiki' in a selected state, and not some arbitrary link.
Furthermore the Wiki is in transition to a new version of Mediawiki and new hardware. I would prefer to see this finished before we give the wiki more visibility. Not to speak about the somewhat "disorganized" main page...

download.openoffice.org is almost useless to anyone, and specific pages
should be created for those projects wanting to offer something different
than the program.
Please keep in mind that there are different versions (stable vs. snapshots) of the program. I wouldn't consider Download Central (neither the page nor the Tab linking to it) useless. It helps to provide an overview about the available downloads and related information.
I would be happy to go with Download and drop it if not used.

__Action statements____________
Mainly sub-text for the action statements hasn't been decided upon

Please revise the most current proposal at (and edit where appropriate):
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Website/Content

__Subpages' content______________
The subpages have hardly been discussed, please have a look at:

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Website/Content

I thought the action statements would link to existing pages in the beginning.
I want to learn more about OpenOffice.org
 -> why.openoffice.org or openoffice.org/product
I want to download OpenOffice.org
 -> download.openoffice.org or download.openoffice.org/2.3.1
I want to do more with my OpenOffice.org
 -> extensions.services.openoffice.org or ???
I want to participate in OpenOffice.org
 -> contributiong.openoffice.org

__Footer_________________________

What text should go on the footer:

For now I suggest, keep it as proposed:
http://www.patentpending.co.nz/openoffice/index.html (but yes, do try to
make it always at the bottom part of the screen.

Please let's stick with footer we have on all pages - including the host/sponsor logo and trademark text. Given the light gray background and separation by a grey line I wouldn't think it's to distracting. We could size down the links a bit, but the rest is already fine print :-)

Thanks again for driving this effort.

Greetings
Stefan
