It's being caused by the text in <pre> tags not wrapping. Odd, since most of the other comments automatically wrap (in the HTML code they automatically have line breaks put in). The same thing happens with the current design, (see http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=1049). There's a solution at: http://www.longren.org/2006/09/27/wrapping-text-inside-pre-tags/ But virtually all the CSS it provides is invalid! (I've tried it and it does work though).
