Could Linux users please test the tabs [again] - while they displayed fine in Firefox, none of the other browsers were agreeing. After endlessly tweaking different values/classes, I got it to display fine on all the browsers WITH the specific line height, height, etc adjustments that seemed to make it work on Linux intact.
tested on Debian via NoMachine The page & tabs & search-Go show fine in Epiphany (Gnome) and Iceweasel (= FFox) and Konqueror.
