Thanks Craig, I assumed that GitHub in corp.environments all required MFA. I'm surprised to hear otherwise, but it does shine a light on the concerns.

To use MFA here would change my work flow, which is a non-starter for me. I tried to set up access via MATT to use this account, which asked me to use MFA. But, if using github for whimsy simply would take a different github account specifically for my work on $whimsy, that account could use MFA with no issues.
