As much as I personally love using vim, I dread having someone accidentally end up in it. And if I'm trying to help someone remotely, there's no way I want that to happen. I always tell them to use nano because they can figure out how to do simple editing in it. If someone wants to do more advanced editing, then I will introduce them to vim. At work we have these big vim keyboard charts on our walls.
