This has come up a few times on the users list.  That documentation needs to be updated.  You shouldn't be blindly deleting symlinks. Unless you've done something yourself, all the "dangling" symlinks are intentional.

The documentation says "verify the list of broken symlinks".
But how is this done?
Should all dangling symlinks be checked, if they are part of an installed package?
