I did the point "Clean-up old symlinks".
But after this "rpm -Vaq" complains about a lot of files missing.
After reinstalling the corresponding packages, rpm is fine again.
Should the packages be corrected, or should the cleanup script be
adapted?
This has come up a few times on the users list. That documentation
needs to be updated. You shouldn't be blindly deleting symlinks.
Unless you've done something yourself, all the "dangling" symlinks are
intentional.
The documentation says "verify the list of broken symlinks".
But how is this done?
Should all dangling symlinks be checked, if they are part of an
installed package?
I don't think that checking the symlinks is useful at all, but yes, at
least check if they are part of an installed package. However, there
are also "dangling" symlinks that are created at runtime that you
shouldn't be deleting either.
