startplasma (as the successor to startkde) is pretty well known and people do regularly use it. That said, it's been a full blown program for quite some time. I was thinking that if this is going to be a thing, I'd inject a wrapper to deal with it until the program itself is adapted to handle this case. But this is not unique to Plasma.
