For the last month or two Nautilus the file manager just 'hangs'
forever. I don't know what causes it. It often happens when trying to
select a file for upload via Chrome. However sometimes just clicking on
the file manager icon in the dock in GNOME, nothing ever is displayedfor
multiple minutes (sometimes going on 10-20 it seems).
When it finally is displayed, its usually frozen and I get the
overlay asking if I want to wait or force quit.
I tried stracing the process but all I get is:
$ strace -p 2807416
strace: Process 2807416 attached
ppoll([{fd=39, events=POLLIN}], 1, NULL, NULL, 8
Try strace -fp 2807416 ; it probably runs several processes and the main
one is just hanging on some IPC. Hopefully the straces of other
processes will show something.--
