Up thru 2021 I was a Fedora packager (and upstream maintainer) for

Nothing significant, at the very least not for the topic below.
Now
that I have a bit of spare time, I would like to package passwordsafe
for Fedora. The upstream project is at
https://github.com/pwsafe/pwsafe.git
I have built a first try at the spec file. That and the associated rpms
are available at
https://www.five-ten-sg.com/mapper/blog/passwordsafe
The existing Fedora pwsafe package conflicts with this one, since they
both provide /usr/bin/pwsafe. I think that old package should be
removed.
Get in touch with the packagers, you can find them on the src.fp.o page
[1] or the *-maintainers mail. It does not seem like a dependency to
anything or a cornerstone application that you would need any special
request to replace it, just the standard `Obsoletes` guidelines.
The pwsafe ChangeLog file says it was last updated in 2005.
The pwsafe.spec file says it was first packaged for Fedora in 2007,
with only minor patches since then. It uses the version 2 format for
the password database. Version 3 was defined and in production in early
2006.
Compatibility for the user sounds tricky, but being that old and who
knows how big the user base is, it might be fine to close your eyes on it.
Looking forward to the review request :)
