I just built a compat package protobuf3 in rawhide:

This is one of the steps of:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Protobuf_5.x/6.x
The compat package protobuf3 provides the same content as protobuf as of now.
As a next step I will create PR for packages that fails to build with new protobuf to use protobuf3 instead. Impacted
packages are these that failed to build for rawhide in this table:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/mochaa/protobuf/monitor/
If you are maintainer of impacted package you can migrate to protobuf3
yourself. It will help a lot.
Only then the protobuf will be rebased to a new version (33.x). This will bring new challenges, but lets face them when
we get there.
