Discourse was enabled as an "experiment". I claim that experiment failed (although, even failed experiments are successful in a different way, as they show what doesn't work). I have found discourse is a solution in search of a problem for actual technical discussions[0]. And so does LKML (an actual technical discussion list). What I would propose is that FESCo decides on the one (and only one) platform for which they will evaluate the discussion. If others want a different place to talk, so be it, but if one wants the discussions to count, it must to posted to the one (and only one) place FESCo will consider it in a format compatible with that platform (i.e. stop trying to bridge discussions automatically, which just causes more confusion and overheads). I have a strong opinion as to which platform that should be (i.e. MLs), but, ultimately, it is up to FESCo.
