I don't see why it wouldn't. Just the usual license verification, making sure it works, have the bundling metadata etc. Ultimately it would be good to work towards packaging this, especially for this kind of package, so that we can work on making it more compatible with rpm packaging.

Yes, bundling rapids-cmake is easy and what I did here:

The question is, if it complies with our bundles software policy.

Taking a look at this, the patch to allow to use `find_package` instead of
downloading is rather simple (make CPM_DOWNLOAD_* an option and pass it as
false) and afair even cpm allows customizing to use a pre-downloaded archive.
icm is a bit tricky because it also expects a patch applied via git, but I
think that can be worked around as well.

At a quick glance it seems you only need rapids-cmake, either packaged or also
bundled. This one is using vanilla FetchContent so it's more straight forward
to manipulate. But indeed ther might be chained dependencies so would probably
have to try out and see.

HI all,

In preparation for hpx-2.0, I am looking into the new required
dependency stdexec ( https://github.com/NVIDIA/stdexec ).

stdexec is mostly header-only, but has a couple of dependencies to
build the tests.
Those dependencies get downloaded at compile time, there might be an
option to patch the cmake buildsystem to download them ahead of time,
but it isn't supported right now.
(for the full story see: https://github.com/NVIDIA/stdexec/issues/2149)
In short, by not building the tests the only external dependency is
rapids-cmake (a collection of CMake modules).

I see the following options:
0) Wait until stdexec is part of the compiler (C++-26 standard) -
might be a while
1) Bundle stdexec with hpx, only consumer so far, but might look
strange for hpx to install stdexec headers for it's public interface
2) Package stdexec
2a) Ignore the CMake build system and just copy the headers
2b) Use stdexec's CMake, but don't build the test
2b.1) Bundle rapids-cmake with stdexec, none of those modules get
installed (build deps only) + Fedora usually doesn't unbundle cmake
modules
2b.2) Package rapids-cmake, not sure if there are more deps in there
2c) Use stdexec's CMake and build the tests
2c.1) Bundle the test dependencies, none of those files get installed
(build deps only)
2c.2) Package the test dependencies - might be an even deeper rabbit hole

2b.2) and 2c.2) might be the most compliant with Fedora's unbundling policy.
2b.1) seems fine as well.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Christoph
