Hi there PyMuPDF is a python interface to mupdf which I have been packaging for Fedora for a while now. The PyPi name is "PyMuPDF", module name is "pymupdf"; the Fedora source package is python-PyMuPDF, the built package python3-PyMuPDF provides python3dist(pymupdf) with the same feature set as the pypi package.
So far so old. Upstream updated PyMuPDF to version 2.0, and starting with that version, the PyPi package with that name includes PyMuPDF-Layout and PyMuPDF4LLM, which used to be separate packages (and still are in git, just don't build separately). Technical idiosyncrasies aside: PyMuPDF 2.0 has more features and dependencies than PyMuPDF < 2.0. Starting with 2.0, PyMuPDF can be built without the extra 2 source trees. Upstream calls this pymupdf-lite, it's available under that name on PyPi, the module name is still pymupdf. I'll include a quick comparison below, but the upshot is: - PyMuPDF-lite 2.0 is the proper upgrade for PyMuPDF < 2 feature wise. - PyMuPDF 2.0 is the proper upgrade in terms of PyPi name. Which one matches our packaging guidelines in terms of PyPi name and feature parity? I asked upstream, and they want to reserve lite for special cases and would prefer us to ship the full thing.
