Actually we won't need this. We can simply plug the serial part of the
JTAG/serial pod in the middle of J21, perhaps with a little tape to make
sure other pins do not touch the EEPROM. This will lack a proper ground
connection, but given the small current involved I'd guess a FPGA I/O
set to a 0 level with maximum drive strength would provide a ground good
enough for the serial transmission to work.

(J21 is on the FPGA page, the serial header J5 on the next, and TX/RX
indications on the serial port are from the M1's perspective, e.g. the
"TX" pin is driven by the M1)
