Heh, perhaps it's their paranoid lawyers who made the data sheet. That would explain a number of things ;-) Anyway, I discussed the transformer situation with Joerg on #qi-hardware and while some mysteries remain, nothing should cause catastrophic degradation. Therefore, the best choice seems to be leave the connector-with-transformer as is for now.
