Ok I got everything working nicely.
I downloaded the latest 3.6.0-rc7-wl from *ft-powersave* branch.
Tested with just compiling on my dev box but had constant reboots.
I then downloaded the latest Compat-wireless drivers recommended by
Chun-Yeow and Thomas.
I compiled and uploaded the updates folder to the kernel on my routers and
everything works.
I have ath5k mesh and authsae working nicely
and also have ath9k mesh and authsae working nicely
Here is a snapshot of my ath9k mesh scanned

I will be testing this with a 15 node mesh ath5k/ath9k and send back
results as they happen.
I would like to thank everyone on this list for all your help.
