Hi all,
I'm planning some performance tests and experiments with 802.11s. Therefore, I
try to find some Linux (command line) tools.
I want to measure/compute the following: (I will use BeagleBone boards as the
platform and a TP-link TL-WN722N as wireless interface)
2 nodes:
* Max distance between the nodes
* at 10, 15, 20, ... meter distance: signal strength, SNR, [latency]
3 nodes:
* extend the max distance with an additional node: Max distance now
* signal strength
* current route between source and target - is the relay node needed or
note in the current situation
I have already found some tools which will/can help me but also some questions
arise and I hope you can help me with that:
* iw list: to get basic info
* iw tool: Lots of really useful stuff but some functions seems to be not
implemented:
* I have tried to set the bitrate and the tx power: 'iw dev mesh set
txpower fixed 18' -> command failed: Operation not supported (-95)
-> For the TP-link stick the tx power seems to be 20dBm all the time.
(Do you think this can change automatically? If yes, how to measure this?)
* iw dev mesh station dump: Some useful parameters: e.g. signal - this is the
signal strength at the receiver side or am I wrong.
-> What will I need to measure/compute the SNR? 'iw dev wlan0 survey
dump' command executes without error but also without result/values.
So it would be great if you can help me here. What tools do you use for such
measurements? Are there mesh specific tools I could/should use here?
Best regards and thanks in advance,
Marco
