Hi, after writing the 855patch (see my previous posts) many users of 845GL-based notebooks asked me to support their chipset which exhibits a similar problem: Some BIOS versions only reserve a very small amount of video memory, so it is not possible to run XFree86 in high resolutions.
I modified my 855patch and its function was verified by some 845GL users (I don't have a notebook using that chipset).
