If I read between the lines correctly, you're upset with X.org because when you said "Jump," they didn't respond with "How high?"

My own experience with telling other open source developers to "jump," has given me several hints about what sort of response one might expect. That you expected something different is a bit surprising to me.

I also have the sense that you're upset with X.org because you were were flamed by others. I'm not sure why you think it's fair to blame X.org for that. Perhaps you'd care to elaborate?

I have indicated that X.org is in the process of changing the way it works and is willing to revisit the UTF8_STRING proposal. I can't offer any more than that. If you want to do that, great; if not---

This thread is seriously off-topic for this list. If you intend to continue it then we should find another venue.
