Code development is completely frozen. Many bugs were fixed,
CVS-code became more stable, but... the work results in failure.

May be, it is a time to fix the CVS code as NEdit 5.6 and open new branch?
If somebody do the release engineering, 5.6 will be released in the future.
If somebody have an interest in coding features, he will develop new branch.
There are many nice patches (features) in the patch tracker but they
will be lost with a time. Where are TK Soh, Nathaniel Gray, Thorsten Haude, 
....?
Who will maintain their patches (features)?
