Hi all,

Seems like I've generated a bit of discussion! My reasoning behind starting
this project was, yes, it'd be fun and cool, but also, we've had good takeup
for our LDCplanning account, which is basically an RSS feed plugged into a
Twitter account broadcasting planning apps in our District. This led me to
think about taking it one step further, yes, PlanningAlerts exists, and it does
a great job, but some people do like to get stuff via Twitter. We've had good
takeup for bin alerts too (inspired by the Epic Bin system that was put
together at Rewired State the other week) In a way Twitter is the new RSS
(although it won't replace RSS entirely) but it's more in your face and
immediate than ploughing through feed after feed.

Also, another (unintended, but cool) after effect is that I've had a lot of
council people asking me about PlanningAlerts as they've never heard of it.
I've even got one council working on a scraper for their planning system, which
is brilliant, and another couple of councils who have said they're going to
start plugging it on their own site.

It's really interesting to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions though,
please, keep it up!! :)

Cheers

Stuart
