This idea of a generic crowdsourcing platform is related to one thing I
think definitely could be taken forward from the election experience
with YNMP. The format of having a form with details to fill in and a
google search (or other) page in a frame at the bottom could be turned
into a generic service where you dump in a google spreadsheet and a
starting url, and it asks visitors to fill in the blanks in a random
line in the spreadsheet. Maybe it could even be entirely client-side, I
don't know much about a google docs API.
Just to be clear, the shared system I was envisaging was merely a
database for awards/points, a pretty front end to let people view awards
and league tables, and a _really_ simple API to let other sites say
"user X has attained achievement Y". The idea being that it'd be dead
easy to retrofit the incentive scheme to existing sites, or to add to
new sites. I'd imagine each participating site would just have some
config file residing on the awards site by prior agreement.
Of course, there's some implied idea of a common user ID, or tidy way to
tie together user IDs from various sites... but hey.
If DemocracyClub already handles some of this kind of thing...
All very silly, of course, but then so are most facebook games... (eg
