Would it be a nice idea to enter a 'freeze' soon? I imagine that in a 'freeze' period only bugs described in http://www.mmbase.org/bug may be fixed (and of course new ones can be added). When they are all fixed or otherwise considered with, 1.6 will be ready for a branch.
I think 1.6 contains lots of new functionality and fixes, and it is desirable that it will be released. It should be as backwards compatible as possible with 1.5, an upgrade should not be very difficult.
