Each mmbase-module in the src-dir could have it's own build.xml, the one in the root calls these.

This also if fine with me. I think all this can even be arranged without
actual modifications to the source repository (so with only CVS
configuration). The old ways will still work then, which well, doesn't
really harm. Of course it is pitty that the actual directory structure of
the repository on mmbase.org will be different, but no-one will see that,
and perhaps its better to leave it that way, and not spoil the history.

Maybe if we want this big restructuring, we could create a new repository and keep the old one for reference of the history?
