I'm in favour of removing it.I think that it is a good -last border- defenence, and therefore we could leave the code there(if net active the overhead is minimal).
I find the presence of this limit is not well-known among
users/developers. In most cases it is causing confusion rather than
being useful.
If the using the limit of the query works fine, we can remove it everywhere from the config files.
